How we build trust
We take marketplace quality seriously. Badges are one part of that—alongside verification, moderation, and clear communication between buyers and sellers.
Verified accounts
We use account and ownership checks so buyers can see when a seller or builder is managing their own presence on the marketplace.
Transparent badge criteria
Every badge on this page explains what it indicates — and what it does not. Criteria can improve over time without hiding behind vague claims.
Direct communication
Inquiries go to the listing or profile owner so buyers can ask questions and sellers can respond without a middleman commission.
Community reporting
We review reports about inaccurate listings, spam, and misuse so the marketplace stays useful for serious buyers and sellers.
Builder claims
Builders can claim public profiles for free from any state directory or profile page. After approval you edit your own photos and models, earn Verified Builder status, and show buyers a managed company presence — including related listings across the marketplace.
Regular moderation
Listings and profiles are reviewed as the marketplace grows. Badges help surface status; moderation helps keep quality consistent.
Featured
What it means
Featured indicates the seller purchased a Featured listing plan on Little Houses For Sale. Featured listings receive enhanced placement in browse results, a Featured badge on the listing, and a higher photo limit than the free plan.
What it doesn't mean
Featured does not mean Little Houses For Sale inspected the home, endorsed the seller, or guarantees a sale. It reflects a paid placement tier—not construction quality or transaction outcomes.
How it's earned
Sellers choose the Featured plan when listing or upgrade from their dashboard. Featured status stays active for that listing while the plan purchase applies.
Premium
What it means
Premium indicates the seller purchased a Premium listing plan on Little Houses For Sale. Premium listings receive priority placement in browse results, eligibility for homepage featured sections, a Premium badge on the listing, and up to 80 photos.
What it doesn't mean
Premium does not mean Little Houses For Sale inspected the home, endorsed the seller, or guarantees a sale. It reflects a paid placement tier—not construction quality or transaction outcomes.
How it's earned
Sellers choose the Premium plan when listing or upgrade from their dashboard. Premium status stays active for that listing while the plan purchase applies.
Verified Seller
What it means
The seller has verified ownership of their account and listing through Little Houses For Sale. This helps buyers identify listings managed by a real account holder on the marketplace.
What it doesn't mean
We do not inspect or certify the physical condition of the tiny house. A Verified Seller badge is not a home inspection, appraisal, or construction warranty.
Verified Builder
What it means
The builder has claimed their profile and verified ownership of their business on Little Houses For Sale. This signals that the profile is managed by the company rather than left as a public-source listing alone.
What it doesn't mean
Verification does not mean we personally inspect every build, guarantee workmanship, or endorse a specific project outcome.
Benefits
- Official photos, models, and contact details managed by the builder
- Models and listings included in related listings across the marketplace
- Clear Verified Builder status buyers recognize on your profile
- Direct inquiries from buyers who prefer a managed, verified company page
Founding Builder Partner
What it means
The builder currently participates in the Founding Builder Partner plan on Little Houses For Sale. This is a marketplace partnership status.
What it doesn't mean
Founding Builder Partner does not indicate verification, an inspection, certification, endorsement, or a guarantee of workmanship or project outcomes.
Top Rated
What it means
Top Rated helps buyers identify builders our team currently highlights in a given state. Selection is editor-guided and may evolve as the marketplace grows.
How it's earned
Top Rated is not presented as a purely algorithmic score. Selection may include factors such as the following, reviewed together rather than as a single automatic formula:
- Buyer reviews and reputation signals
- Response rate and communication quality
- Listing quality and accuracy
- Profile completeness
- Time on the marketplace
Available Now
What it means
Available Now indicates a specific home or inventory unit that can be purchased without ordering a custom build from a floor-plan catalog. This includes private seller listings and builder in-stock or move-in-ready units.
What it doesn't mean
Available Now does not mean the home has been inspected by Little Houses For Sale, is move-in ready on your land, or includes delivery and setup. Confirm condition, inclusions, and timing with the seller or builder.
New
What it means
The listing or builder profile was published or approved within the last 14 days. This helps buyers spot recently added homes and companies while they are still fresh on the marketplace.
Sold
What it means
The listing is no longer available for purchase. It may remain online as an archived record so buyers and sellers can still reference past activity on the marketplace.
Unclaimed
What it means
An Unclaimed badge indicates a builder profile assembled from public sources that has not yet been claimed by the business. Buyers should treat contact details, photos, and model info as provisional until the company verifies ownership and manages the profile. You will see Claim this profile on unclaimed builder cards in each state directory and on the profile page itself. Claiming is free and unlocks editing plus a Verified Builder badge buyers recognize.
What it doesn't mean
Unclaimed does not mean the builder is illegitimate, inactive, or unavailable. It only means Little Houses For Sale has not yet confirmed that the company is the one editing that profile.
How it's earned
Profiles become Unclaimed when we publish a public-source builder listing before the company has verified ownership. Claiming removes the badge after approval:
- Open the builder profile (or use Claim this profile on the state directory card)
- Submit a claim with your name and a business email we can verify
- Our team confirms you represent the company
- On approval, you unlock editing and Verified Builder status
Why claim your profile
- Take control of photos, models, pricing, and contact details — and remove outdated public-source info
- Earn a Verified Builder badge buyers recognize and trust
- Get your models and listings into related listings across the marketplace so more buyers discover your builds
- Appear as a managed profile buyers feel confident contacting directly
- Claiming is free — submit a business email and we confirm ownership
