Data deletion instructions

Last updated

You can ask us to delete the personal information Little Houses For Sale holds about you. This page explains exactly how to do that, what we need from you, and what happens to each kind of information.

If you just want to close your account, you can do it yourself from your dashboard. For anything broader — listings, a builder profile, email signups, or inquiries — email us using the steps below.

How to request deletion

Send us an email. There is no form to fill in and no account required to make a request.

Open a pre-filled deletion request email.

What to include

Please give us just enough to find your records and confirm they're yours. Don't send government identification, financial details, or passwords — we never need them for a deletion request.

  • The email address associated with your account, listing, builder profile, or newsletter signup. If you used more than one, list them.
  • What you want deleted — your whole account and everything with it, or something specific such as one listing or your newsletter subscription.
  • Links, if you have them — the URL of the listing, builder profile, or comment in question. This is the fastest way for us to find the right record.
  • How you signed in — email and password, or Google — if you know.

Send the request from the email address on the account where you can. If you can't, say so and we'll find another way to verify you.

Verifying your request

Before we delete anything we need to be reasonably sure the request is genuine, because deletion cannot be undone and a listing may be someone's active advertisement. We may:

  • Reply to the email address on the account to confirm the request came from you
  • Ask you to confirm a detail already in your record, such as the city on a listing
  • Ask you to send the request from the account email, or to sign in and use the dashboard deletion option

If we can't verify that you own the account or the content, we may decline the request and will explain why.

Deleting your account yourself

If you're signed in, go to your dashboard, open the account section, and choose to delete your account. You'll be asked to type DELETE to confirm.

This removes your account profile and your sign-in credentials, so you will no longer be able to log in. It does not automatically remove listings, builder profiles, comments, or newsletter subscriptions — email us if you want those gone too, and we'll handle them together.

What we delete, anonymise, or keep

Deleted

  • Your account profile: name, email address, phone number, and saved preferences
  • Your sign-in credentials, including a Google-linked sign-in
  • Listings you submitted, including uploaded photos, on request
  • Your builder profile, including logo and portfolio images, on request
  • Newsletter and guide-download records, on request
  • Saved items such as favourites

Anonymised or hidden instead

  • Comments and reviews are removed from public view. We may keep a deleted-state record so conversation threads and moderation history stay coherent.
  • Aggregate statistics — such as page view and listing view counts — are not tied to you as an individual and remain in totals.

Kept, where we have to

  • Inquiry messages already delivered to a seller or builder. Those are in their inbox and we can't retract them — contact the recipient directly.
  • Billing and payment records, which we and our payment processor Stripe must retain for tax, accounting, and chargeback purposes.
  • Records needed to comply with the law, resolve a dispute, prevent fraud, or enforce our terms of service — for example an account closed for abuse.
  • A minimal suppression record of your email address if you asked not to be contacted, so we don't email you again by mistake.
  • Routine backups, which are overwritten on their normal cycle after live data is deleted.

Content that was public may also survive outside our control — in search engine caches, the Internet Archive, or social posts and screenshots made by others. We can remove it from our site but we can't erase third-party copies. You'll need to ask those services directly, and you can use Google's own removal tools for cached pages.

How long it takes

We aim to acknowledge deletion requests within a few business days, in line with our normal email response times. Verification and the number of records involved affect how long completion takes, so we don't promise a fixed deadline — but we will tell you when the work is done, and we'll let you know if anything can't be deleted and why.

Facebook, Instagram, and other Meta platforms

This is the data deletion route for anyone who reaches us through Meta's platforms.

Little Houses For Sale does not currently offer Facebook or Instagram sign-in — accounts are created with an email address and password, or with Google. So in most cases there is no Meta-linked login data for us to delete.

You can still use this page to ask us to delete:

  • Information you sent us through our Facebook or Instagram profiles, such as a message or a comment containing your contact details
  • An account, listing, or signup you created after arriving from one of our Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest posts
  • Any data associated with a Meta account connection, if we offer one in future and you used it

Email info@littlehousesforsale.com with the subject Data Deletion Request and mention that your request relates to Facebook or Instagram, including the profile name you contacted us from.

Content and messages held by Meta itself are governed by Meta's own policies. To remove those, or to delete your Facebook or Instagram account, use the privacy settings in the Facebook or Instagram app.

Other requests

Deletion isn't the only option. You can also ask for a copy of the information we hold, correct something that's wrong, or unsubscribe from marketing email while keeping your account. Unsubscribe links are at the bottom of every marketing email, and you can edit your listings and profile from your dashboard at any time.

For anything else, see our privacy policy or get in touch through our contact page.
